  • Glen Canyon Dam documentary film narrated by NBC newsman Chet Huntley (1959)
    Huntley used the map to point out the locations of three other large dams: Grand Coulee (WA), Shasta (CA), and Hoover (NV/AZ). However it's interesting that the film's creators chose to use a full coast-to-coast map, complete with flood contours, to talk about dams of the far West. 

    International Harvester, a major supplier of trucks and other equipment for the massive Glen Canyon Dam, commissioned the documentary which debuted in 1959 when a spectacular 1,028' bridge was completed near the dam. The span takes U.S. Route 89 over the Colorado River and at 700 feet above the ground it was the highest steel arch bridge in the world when it opened.
